About Us
We are a pop-up, part-time studio that facilitates the process of making things by creating a little makerspace in different locations where we host our classes and programs. Makerspaces are spaces that provide people with the tools and materials to make things, where they are the leaders of what they make.
In our programs, we facilitate process-based art making experiences with classes primarily located in Westwood, New Jersey. Process-based art is when there is a focus on the process of making and doing rather than the final product. We provide learners with traditional and non-traditional art materials, offer some general guidance and instruction, and watch the magic unfold.

In our programs, everyone is a Maker, and each Maker is the leader in what they create.
We utilize proven methods that help to develop core life skills including:

*Fine and Gross Motor Skills
*Decision Making
*Spatial Reasoning
*Innovation
*Problem-Solving
*Collaboration
*Self-Confidence
*Science
*Technology
*Engineering
*Math
*Relaxation and Stress Relief
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide children and adults in New Jersey with the opportunity to participate in artistic play and exploration, in order to develop essential life skills. We aim to help learners gain self-confidence, develop creative problem-solving, utilize imagination, collaborate with peers, and have fun in the process of making!
Our Story
The Little Makerspace is a woman-owned business. We have over 20 years of experience working with children, and a passion for the arts, childhood development, and education. Our owner, Christine, has a Bachelor's of Fine Art, a Master of Arts in Education, and is nationally board-certified in Health & Wellness Coaching. Through The Little Makerspace, we aim to help children develop confidence, creativity, and imagination through artistic processes and play.
The Little Makerspace was founded in 2023 after realizing there was a need for visual arts and process-based arts programs for young children in Northern New Jersey. When searching for arts programs to enroll our own child into, we realized that programs like this didn't seem to exist for children under the age of 5. With a background in art and education, we were familiar with the importance of immersing children in such experiences from a young age. Because programs like ours didn't seem to exist in our community, we founded The Little Makerspace to provide children and adults across northern New Jersey with the opportunity to participate in visual and process-based arts programs. We are thrilled to be able to offer these services!
